Can home automation reduce the energy performance level (E-level)?

The technical knowledge centre Tecnolec has reported on a new calculation method for controlled ventilation systems in energy performance and interior climate (EPB) in its newsletter from March. This method can offer new possibilities for including integrated home automation into the E-level. Due to a new ministerial resolution, a method to calculate controlled ventilation systems in residential buildings has been included into the EPB calculation methodology. As a result of this, the reduction factor for a controlled ventilation system has to be determined by this new method for all EPB permit demands and notifications from 1st January 2015 on.

From now on, home automation systems equipped with CO2 and/or presence detectors can contribute to the reduction of the E-level in new homes in Belgium.
